BLUE PILL - RED PILL

I've been meaning to write a narrative about this - anyone have a guess what the narrative will be?

and, by the way, I do love the overlaying of spanish subtitles on this clip - it makes it all the more interesting/layered - and why is that? I don't know spanish, but I bet we could get any spanish speaking person to watch this clip and disagree with some portion of the translation.

and by the way, I think I need to watch "lost in translation" becuase I think thats what is going on with my students. I just don't think i'm getting through to them.

but this is a question of "how do we represent our ideas?" and that is certainly not an easy question to answer. I hope to have a better understanding of this by the end of the project.

  1. Of course . . . Keanu's character decides to take the "red pill" . . . I get it. . .

What I don't get . . . is how the requirements of this class changes from day-to-day . . . I'm glad you had commented about the booklet being bound prematurely . . . I spent several days, traveling for hours each way and spending money I really shouldn't be spending, in Red Hook this past week . . . a lot more than can be said for anyone else. The rest of my free time was spent in the City (more money being spent). I honestly thought that we were supposed to come in with our research by Monday, April 7th. . . and that is all.
After spending another all-nighter working on several images I wanted to post onto the class' flickr webpage, I noticed that the booklet was already compiled and ready to be bound. Wow!!! All my posts were clearly ignored. If I had taken the easy way out, all my work would've been done by now too.

The Matrix dialogue makes a reference to "Wonderland" and the rabbit hole. I'd like to make my own "Wonderland"/"Looking Glass" reference --- that of Alice running as fast as she can only to find out that she hasn't moved one iota.

  2. We were not taking the easy way out of anything. A lot of us are doing a lot of research and I don't believe you have the audacity to shoot down at us, its is unfortunate that you had missed class but we did decide on a lot of things that were all over the yahoo group. As was written in the yahoo group to you eariler. Your work will be able to be added and what not, we were not ignoring you though.

  4. Come on guys - lets play nice. Misscommunications all around - sorry I didn't notice this before tonight, I could have addressed if still an issue. and yes there has been shifting of "requirements."

The book is good for what it was, but to be really useful the information from the book (and what was left out) should be posted as narratives.

  6. I still stand by my initial statement. . . it was made after witnessing a walk-out --- a walk-out that followed a statement, "I'm never going back to Red Hook again!!!" This statement was in response to my asking which classmate(s) will accompany me to Red Hook for a thorough site analysis. I thought to myself, "How on earth can you take on a project like this without returning to the site?" . . .

Anyway, I apologize for casting judgment, it's not my place to do so.

Have a good summer and ,again, I enjoyed the class . . . no, I enjoyed the project.
